The Great Neck Plaza man, James Orfanos, went into Alpian Cleaners, which is just down the street from where he lives, around 9:30 a.m. and caused a disturbance, authorities said.
Orfanos went into an employees-only area of the store and attacked a 27-year-old man, punching and kicking him, according to cops.
The assault escalated when Orfanos allegedly held a knife to the man’s head before putting him in a chokehold and throwing his phone causing damage.
Orfanos fled the scene in a vehicle while the victim suffered multiple contusions and injuries to his neck and left elbow. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Police later arrested Orfanos and charged him with 2nd degree assault, criminal mischief, menacing, burglary and criminal obstruction of breathing.
