I will come to you absolutely free of charge

Mr. Sohn, the wetcleaning expert, will give you free lessons for a group of 10 or more. He will even cover any travel expenses out of his own pocket

Mr. Myungsik Sohn, the renouwned wetcleaning expert who is the founding member and technical advisor to WetcleanersUSA.com, has announced that he is donating his talent to teach anyone, anywhere, absolutely free.

Wetcleaning by Sohn,” Mr. Sohn’s YouTube seminar series, has received more than 1.36M views and his Shorts series more than 1.73M views.

“Whenever the subject of wetcleaning comes up, there are still people who argue if it is feasible or practical. This is the same argument from more than 20 years ago when I first started wetcleaning. I know there is a negative view in the drycleaner’s community. I want to bring these people up to date.”

Wetcleaning helps with sales

Mr. Sohn operates a 100% wetcleaning shop in Ardsley, NY. His store’s annual sales have always shown an increase in its more than 15 years of history – except for 2020 and 2021 during the height of COVID-19 pandemic.

“When I teach wetcleaning, I don’t use words like toxic chemicals or environmentally friendly. We’re all self-employed businessmen and our incentive should be better business.”

The reason he chose wetcleaning is simple. When you offer wetcleaning service, it’s easy to differentiate yourself from other drycleaners. Customer loyalty is also higher. So, you can charge higher prices.

“My customers bring in a lot of polo shirts or khakis pants and pay $10 a piece. Why wouldn’t they wash them at home for free? Bringing their worn clothes to me has become a part of their daily routine. It is quite different from customers who select clothes for drycleaning.”

Wetcleaning is much faster

Mr. Sohn chose wetcleaning because it is much faster than drycleaning. At his store, Mr. Sohn does all the spotting and cleaning. He seldom does pre-spotting and the total time he spends at the spotting table is less than 30 minutes a day. He starts washing about 30 minutes after he started classifying clothes. He has seldom worked past the lunch time even though his volume is quite large. Had he played golf…

“A lot of drycleaners think wetcleaning work is slow and tedious. It’s actually the opposite. If I were a drycleaner, I would have to work past the closing time.”

Mr. Sohn’s YouTube videos has garnered more than 3.1 million views so far

Simply gather 10 or more people

Mr. Sohn will travel to your location at his own expense as long as you have 10 or more people for the class. His service is yours absolutely for free.

The seminar is 8 hours long and covers subjects like basic wetcleaning techniques; extraction and drying; wetcleaning methods with no dedicated equipment; soaps/conditioners/other chemicals; and what to look for when you shop for a wetcleaning equipment.

“It wasn’t easy for me when I first came here in 1999. Luckily, I found the right profession and I now enjoy the American Dream. I want to give back what this industry has given me.”

In fact, Mr. Sohn has been giving free lessons to whomever came to him to learn. If from out of town, he would offer them accommodations at his own house. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say more than half of 100% wetcleaners around the country were students of his.

“If I were to visit them today, they would have developed a system of their own. If you ask 10 wetcleaners, you would get 10 different answers. That shows you how wide the safety margin is when you wetclean.”

1 on 1 paid lessons

If you prefer the comfort of 1 on 1 lessons, Mr. Sohn also offers a paid lesson for $500. He would travel at his own expense if you are withing 3 hours’ drive one way.

“The benefit of 1 on 1 lesson is that it can be tailored to your specific situation. It would also help relieve your anxiety of making a new challenge.”

Adaptation is the new mantra for the post-COVID economy

Mr. Sohn points out that the Korean cleaners are getting old and more reluctant to accept changes.

“With remote work and casual attire at work place, the market is literally changing in front of our eyes. How it used to be has nothing to do how it should be.”

Mr. Sohn points out the fact that drycleaners have always relied on water for problems drycleaning simply cannot solve.

“Problems like vomits or urine smell have always been beyond the realm of drycleaning. Even though you don’t believe in wetcleaning, I bet you already process quite a bit of volume with water. If you broaden you horizon even by a small margin, you can enter the world of wetcleaning. Just call up 10 of your friends. I will be there no matter where you are.”
