Dry Clean City offers free laundry services in wake of Helene

[wcyb.com – 2024.10.10] JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WCYB) — Helene left many people without power and water in our region, leaving them unable to wash and dry their clothing. However, Dry Clean City is doing something about that.

Right after Helene hit the region, the business began to offer free laundry services for those in need.

“It was a day after the storm, and we were sitting at the house, just reflecting on everything that had happened. Without much hesitation, or discussion, well we’ll just offer free laundry for those impacted,” said Jamie Mijeski, the owner of Dry Clean City.

The Dry Clean City staff is driving around the Northeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina region, picking up people’s unwashed laundry and returning it, clean.

“Western North Carolina still has no power, no water, we have a service going up there, collecting laundry from them, bringing it back to our facilities, washing it, cleaning it, drying it, folding it, and taking it back up there,” said Keith Mijeski.

Dry Clean City’s Owner, Jamie Mijeski said she is happy to help.

“It has meant so much to the community, and it’s really been such a blessing to us, to see the joy on people’s faces, when we just show up and deliver clean laundry, and they have just embraced us so well,” said Jamie Mijeski.

“If they come here with their clothes, we’re gonna help them, or if they call one of the phone numbers of these stores and say they can’t get out, they don’t have transportation, then we can get their information and pick something up,” said Keith Mijeski.

Also, if you have any questions, you can message Dry Clean City on Facebook.

Dry Clean City will continue washing and drying clothes for people as long as they can at all locations.
